And the wheel turns…

Shortly after the first poll results started pouring in, the BBC had already predicted the Barak Obama would be the 44th president of the United States of America. The least they could have given me was a spoiler warning! I was planning on spending a good chunk of my day peaking at the numbers, but now I’ll have to work!

All said and done, it was a dirty campaign. I’m sure that there was a lot of stress and probably more than one member of the election staff on both sides that did or said things that weren’t necessarily authorized. Hopefully, in elections to come, we will see a little more dignity and a lot less misquoting.

I do have mixed feelings about the results though. Remember when Palin was preparing for her debate with Biden and everyone was talking about lowering expectations for the Alaskan? Well, watching the victory parties of Obama supporters has me worried that the bar has been set too high. Heck, did you see this?

I know that I wouldn’t want to be in Obama’s shoes right now. Hopefully the American public remembers that Democracy is still in effect and that it will take longer than overnight for this big ship to find its new course.

Sayonara to the 20s! _| ̄|○ ← that’s me on hands and knees!

Does turning 30 qualify one for the title of “middle aged”? I sure hope not because the only difference that I feel from yesterday to today is that today my stomach rejected the cornecopia of “comfort food” that I binged on last night! Let me tell you, the one thing that I am definately taking back to the US with me is my automatically opening and closing toilet seat. All hail the mother of invention!

Seriously though, turning 30 means that I’ve been at the rat race for about 10 years now. Looking back over it all, I think I can safely say that things are going well. Sure, I’m not a doctor or a lawyer, but I’m content.

See you all soon!

Cheers,
Captain Adam

Fun in the great Northwest…

Ahoy!

Well, the weather here in Japan has turned to pot. There is a proverb that says, “The Autumn sky and a woman’s mind”. It’s supposed to be saying both change easily and rather abrubtly. Ha! Take that!

Things continue to be busy out here in Japan. It has been a nice summer full of friends, festivals, and even a little vacation back in good ‘ol Boring, Oregon. Here are a couple pictures:

This was in Boring for Aunt Joanne's b-day.

Here’s an old friend from high school as well… Buehler? Buehler?

And here is a puppy that David and Becky brought to the party. They had a whole box of ‘em!

At any rate, it was a great trip. Lots of shopping and lots of family and friends.
Until next time!

Cheers!

Back in the US!

Well, here I am back in the US for a bit. I am spending a few days in Utah with some old friends for a while and then will go back home to Oregon.

Last night Matt and Amber came to visit and Calvin and Faye had a good time handing me rocks (you really had to be there. It was cute.)

Other than that, it has been a fun time just getting to see everyone at the headquarters office again. The weather has been great and it has been so nice to get away from the humidity for a little while.

Cheers!

Hokkaido

So it’s been a while!

I went to Hokkaido with my volleyball team to participate in a tournament and had a great time!
We didn’t do all that well in the competition but the good food and great friends made it all worth it.
Here are some pictures that I took with my cell phone.

A flower at the restaurant that we had lunch at the first day. Best curry soup I have every had!

A boat ride out into the ocean. Lots of fun!

A little more of the cliffs of Otaru. This is called the “Window Rock” for good reason!

And finally me bouncing on the waves!
