New Look

So I finally upgraded to the newest version of Wordpress. While at it I decided to try a new theme as well. What do you think? I need to go through and mess with the code a bit… I don’t really like all the Biohazard stuff that pops up. Maybe I’ll replace it with puppies… mutant puppies…

Cheers,

One week

Well, I’ve been going to the gym and swimming faithfully for one week now. Weighed in today and was happy to see that I had lost 3 kg!
I guess there is hope…

Thursday was the Spring Equinox here in Japan which meant an extra day off. It’s kinda nice still having remnants of the lunar calender around to provide me with an opportunity to sleep in.

In other good news is that by this time tomorrow, I will have gotten my tax return! Yay!… unfortunately, the US dollar is about a strong as a piece of my mother’s overboiled asparagus (sorry mom!). Really, if any of you have money in the the yen right now, it is prime time to buy your dollars back. I know I’m looking under vending machines to scrap together money to send back to the US.

Cheers to all!

Physical Fitness

Well, I finally broke down and bit the bullet. I signed up for a membership at Gold’s Gym here in Japan. With the number of hours that I sit at a desk staring at a computer screen increasing every day, I figured I was pretty much signing my own warrant for sedentary lifestyle diseases.

The place is really nice though- 10x nicer than any US facility. Everything is clean. The people at the front desk don’t ignore you and the equipment is all in working order. There are some extra perks as well like a driving range on the roof and some Asian style hot rock spas.

The best part is the location. It is only 1 block away from work which means I can sneak over on my lunch break. Goodbye extra insulation!

Spring has really come to Japan though. They issued warnings about the amount of pollen in the air (glad I don’t have allergies) and I actually went outside today without a coat!

Cheers to all!

Spring is coming!

Well, spring is finally coming to Japan.
Sure, it’s still cold out, but I haven’t had to turn on my propane stove in almost a week now.
March is the month when all the students in Japan are taking their entrance exams. There are also graduations coming up which means a huge shift in the business world. Large corporations hire new employees by the herd and shuffle their existing employees around in their infrastructure. For a few months, no one knows what they are doing.

At my office here in Yokohama we are experiencing the same thing, only on a smaller scale. We are hiring a few people and will have to train them. It’s a difficult task trying to balance administration, hiring, training, sales, and operations all at the same time. I suppose I am getting a “good experience”, right. ;-)

At any rate, I’m hoping to get some good pictures of the sakura (cherry blossoms) this year. With a little luck and some sneaking out of work I should be posting something here.

Any one have any good news?
